In photos: Women’s march Malaysia 2020

Malaysia had her own women’s march on March 8 in conjunction with International Women’s Day. While the turn-out was quite modest (around 400 people), the spirit of the protest couldn’t be denied. The participants pressed for their seven demands , including an end to violence based on gender and sexual orientation, as well as their wish for equal pay for equal work. There were a lot of chanting, singing, fiery speeches, creative placards and over-all positive energy.

Below are some of the pictures from the march. Faces of the participants have been cropped out to prevent harassment. All images by Mohani Niza.
